Tom & Jordan's
Grey Envisage Flush Windows & French Door
Old family cottage gets a loving refurbishment.
It didn’t take long for us to figure out that flush casement windows were the ideal replacement window for the existing window design.
There is a fascinating backstory to this cute cottage as prior to being owned by its current occupier, Tom, it was in the hands of his great grandparents, grandad and three younger brothers. This covers a period of 100 years. Tom wished to give the cottage a careful upgrade to bring it more in line with 21st Century demands.
At his first design appointment, Tom came armed with a photograph of the cottage in the 1950’s. It was priceless for us as it helped us to work out the most suitable replacement window design. That happened to be our flush casement windows and partly because their coloured bars and monkeytail handles could carry a hard grey colour, a finish that Tom was a big fan of.
Tom also had an aspiration of having the kitchen flow into the garden. Our response was to suggest converting the current kitchen windows into French doors, and it was a piece of advice that he was fully onboard with. It’s done wonders for that area of the house.
Four hours is all the time it took…
Tom’s partner, Jordan, two dogs and several chickens, also call the cottage ‘home’. The improvements have reinvented the place and they are less troubled by external noise now. We have no doubt that Tom’s ancestors would be delighted with what he had done.
